Analyst - General
An analyst in generally investigates a specific function or process for a company. Some of the jobs in the field include business analyst, marketing analyst, cost analyst and industrial analyst amongst others.
A Business analyst generally meets the analytical needs and requirements of independent business customers, companies and various stakeholders of the business. He determines business process problems and suggests solutions for his clients.
A marketing analyst performs the duty of studying and analyzing the customers, core company values, competitors and financial statistics of a company to determine its current path and suggest techniques and the process for marketing strategy.
A cost analysis is one who analyzes business expenses and budgets, suggesting budgetary constraints and expenditures for the company's effectual progress.
An industrial analyst is one who studies the various segments and trends of heavy industrial companies and performs research on the collected data.
An institutional research analyst specifically evaluates the data collected from colleges, schools and universities and other professional institutional entities.
A psychoanalyst is essentially a doctor of the conscience and unconscious mind. He analyzes, understands and treats a patient’s past issues, mental makeup and various states of mind in order to provide a therapeutic pathway to healing and personal growth through individual and group therapy and psychotropic medication.
A system analyst examines business flow needs and processes in order to automate and organize computer application and work-flow. System analysts design, develop, updates and modifies the software implementations for companies and organizations.
Obviously, the educational experience and work-skills is vastly different for the specific analyst discipline undertaken. The wide-range of analyst positions demand significantly different skill-sets, but some common traits should be common in the entire subset. These include superior problem solving skills, in depth analytical skills, an eye for detail along with superior patience and self-actualized skills.
