Sample Job Descriptions
Engineering - General
As America finds itself in less than favorable economic times, the populous are choosing to return to college and the universities in incredibly large numbers. Considering the budging population, out of work individuals and new immigrants looking to obtain the America Dream, the opportunities for educators and jobs within the education field in the near and distant future are enormous.
There are many varied job types available in the education field with the majority of them being teaching or instructional positions. This field is most closely related to the nation's youth. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, around 67% of all education jobs are in the primary and secondary school systems. These lower level institutions of learning offer the best opportunity for employment within this field.
Additional career opportunities exist in areas such as teacher's aide, special education instructor, school psychologists, school librarian, administrator, audio-visual technician, institutional building maintenance, educational institution marketer, bus driver, janitor and more. Obviously, each unique position obviously requires different skills and educational backgrounds.
An elementary school teacher normally will require a much more rounded and less specialized education background as they are normally required to teach several subjects to a single group of students, seeing the same faces, normally for the full school year. As elementary students are in the beginning stages of education and developing their learning habits, these positions also require patience and child psychological instruction in dealing with problems and issues. These educators play a critical position in the educational good-practices and emotional and general developmental growth of very young students.
Middle and secondary school teachers need to be more proficient and knowledgeable in a specialized subject such as mathematics, science or English grammar. These instructors will be called upon to teach one specialized class to several different groups of students throughout the day. These instructors help the students build on the foundational education and study habits of the primary school experience. Dealing with troubled teens and their emotional issues may be a challenge for this group of teacher. Connecting and understanding these youths becoming adults is critical for success in this sector.
Special education instructors need to have an extremely specialized skill-set that includes an in-depth psychological and developmental education background. They will be working with emotionally, mentally and physically challenged individuals who are not a good fit for conventional classroom settings. An extremely high patience level and ability to understand individuals with disabilities are crucial for success in this field. There are numerous Bachelor degree programs for special education teachers that are tailored specifically for the requirements needed for success in this field.
School administrators normally have many years of teaching experience along with management educations and experience. They are normally promoted within the ranks of instructors in a given educational institution but may be obtained from other institutions or districts. Administrators require a large volume of overall knowledge and understanding of teaching and educational institutions and the way they work. They will be responsible for the overall good and effective operation of an institution including but not limited to management of programs and curriculum along with institutional policies and procedures. These trusties of our educational system are the directors of the total educational experience and therefore carry a large burden for success and failure of an institution of learning. They must be highly responsible and broad-minded individuals with the capacity to perform under pressure.
Other employment in the education sector may include bus driver, institutional janitor or maintenance worker. While these jobs each demand their own unique skill-set and specialized educational backgrounds, the common thread will normally be the requirement of working around youth and individuals who are learning, and in a stage of life that is a developmental process. Any employment in this field will carry with it an added need for responsibility in good practices and examples in dealing with our nation's youth and ultimately to the eventual good legacy of our nation.
